When you are in a leadership role at a 245D agency, there seems to be a never-ending list of responsibilities! So how do you ensure you stay on top of everything? In this course, we will review a variety of topics to help you increase your confidence as a 245D leader. Some points of discussion will include documentation timelines and organization strategies, common questions our consultants are asked, and 245D compliance essentials. We will also explore some responsibilities that leaders in our field routinely encounter, but are not often discussed, including how to be a strong advocate with the people you support, navigating difficult team conversations, increasing your person-centered approaches, and more! Let us help you increase your knowledge and feel more confident in your role as a 245D leader!

Virtual Classroom is a blended learning option which combines the benefits of attending live classes such as up-to-date content and information, the ability to have peer interaction, and question/answer sessions, with the ease of remote learning. A variety of classes are offered live each month and recordings are available on demand.
This full day (or two-part virtual) course is designed to instill confidence and knowledge in participants by learning about each major section in 245D involving program standards. We will explore topics including, types of services, rights and restrictions, health needs, protection standards, emergency use of manual restraints, assessment development and implementation, progress reports and meetings, staff training, and DC and DM qualifications and responsibilities. Through discussion, we will explore what each area means for service providers and how participants can be compliant to 245D standards in their companies.
Audience: Managers and executive staff who are responsible for 245D oversight.
Cost: $119 | Offered E/O month with both virtual and classroom options
CEUs: 8.4 for Nurses, 7 for Social Workers
“I didn’t even know about this Rule! I thought I only needed to follow 245D! Isn’t this only for providers who use emergency restraints?” Providers are often caught off guard when faced with a licensing citation for Rule 9544 (the Positive Supports Rule) during their 245D licensing visit. All 245D providers must also comply with 9544 and your licensor will be checking! In this course, you will learn the basics of the Positive Supports Rule. We encourage people who attend The Nuts and Bolts of Chapter 245D Program Standards to also attend this course to help broaden their understanding of compliance for a more complete picture.
Cost: $109 | Offered quarterly with both virtual and classroom options
CEUs: 7.2 for Nurses, 6 for Social Workers
All 245D licensed programs are required to have a Designated Coordinator (DC) and Designated Manager (DM). The DC and DM at your agency need to have a clear understanding of the requirements in MN Statutes, chapter 245D and MN Rules, chapter 9544 to ensure your agency’s success! The Designated Coordinator and Manager Development Program is an interactive course designed to help participants gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to be a successful Designated Coordinator or Designated Manager, especially for Intensive 245D Services.
The DCDP course is intended to provide comprehensive training on management duties commonly required in licensed services. Although this course does not waive the education and experience requirements of the Designated Coordinator and Designated Manager in MN Statutes, chapter 245D, it gives the attendees a comprehensive understanding of 245D regulations and how to implement them at your agency. Participants will receive all course materials as well as sample forms and policies.
Cost: $1,299 | Offered monthly with alternating in-person and virtual sessions
CEUs: 25.2 for Nurses, 21 for Social Workers
